Good morning. I was born and raised in Hyde park and also raised all three of my children and grandchildren in this Community. I have never in all my life experienced and read about such a horrific increase in gun violence and crime in general that has recently hit this neighborhood over the past two to three months . We as Hyde Parkers are outraged and severely dismayed by the current situation. Where are the Police, both U of C Police and Chicago Police, that were always present along 53rd Street . Now when looking down 53rd street and other avenues, there is no Police protection. We are very concerned and fear for the lives of our children and our residents. I am a member of the groups Hyde Park Crime Watch as well as Hyde Park Classics. Hyde Park has always been a beautiful and peaceful community, where our children could at least walk to the Point, Museums, and other community activities. Not anymore. We need your help.
Please give a response at your earliest convenience: this is a matter of the life or death of our Hyde Park Neighborhood.
