10 Week Detour Begins In Joliet At Route 53, Emerald Drive
The next phase of construction is for the installation of new traffic signals on Route 53 at Emerald Drive on Joliet's southern corridor.
JOLIET — As part of the city of Joliet's effort to make driving on Route 53 safer for everyone, new traffic lights are being added to Route 53 and Emerald Drive. While the work is underway, a detour will be put in place beginning on Friday.
The detour means the closing Emerald Drive at Route 53 for approximately 10 weeks, city of Joliet officials announced on Wednesday.
All Emerald Drive traffic will be detoured to Laraway Road and Cashel Lane to access the businesses on Emerald Drive Full construction for the traffic signal installation and turn lane improvements is anticipated to be completed by fall of 2024, Joliet announced.
