Members of the Joliet Fire Department and Joliet police also searched the premises.
"The area was deemed to be safe following an extensive search of both buildings," English said.
Following the search, hotel guests were allowed back to their rooms, however, the casino remained closed overnight as a precaution.
Following Sunday's news release, Sgt. English also included the following information for the press to report: "it is important to note the Joliet Police Department discourages curious citizens from responding to potentially dangerous scenes such as this one as it potentially creates additional strain on emergency responders and they possibly could have placed themselves in harm’s way as well. "
