2 Joliet Shooting Victims Don't Want To Help Police Solve Crimes: Cops

JOLIET — The same night Joliet Police Department investigated the late night homicide of a 25-year-old man over at the White Birch Lane Apartments, two other men suffered gunshots in another part of the city's west side more than three hours earlier on Wednesday.

However, in that case, both of the victims were brought to the emergency room at the hospital in automobiles, and the victims did not want to help Joliet police solve their crimes, police told Joliet Patch.

According to Thursday's press release from Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 8:37 p.m., officers responded to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center for a shooting victim who arrived at the emergency room in a private vehicle.

Officers met with a 23-year-old man who suffered two non-life-threatening gunshot wounds — one to the right hand and the other to the right forearm.

While at the hospital, the officers were notified of a second shooting victim who arrived at the emergency room in another private vehicle. Officers identified the additional shooting victim as a 22- year-old man. He had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the right leg.

Shortly before receiving notification of the gunshot victims arriving to the hospital, Joliet patrol officers heard shots being fired near the area of Oneida Street and Emery Street.

The officers discovered the spent shell casings in the street and discovered an unoccupied vehicle struck by the gunfire.

"At this time, it is believed that both shooting victims resulted from the same incident, however detectives continue to investigate if the crime scene located at Oneida Street and Emery Street is the location where the shooting took place," English said.
