2 Run From Joliet Police, Loaded Gun Later Recovered As Evidence: English
Officers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Silverado for multiple traffic offenses in the 300 block of East Cass Street.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that a pair of teenagers have been arrested in connection with a loaded gun incident on the city's east side.
Joseph Ceja-Vazquez was charged and released on a notice to appear for the crime of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition, no valid FOID and obstructing a peace officer. As for Isaac Reynoso, he was charged and released on a notice to appear for obstructing a peace officer.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 11:13 p.m. Aug. 1, officers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Silverado for multiple traffic offenses in the 300 block of East Cass Street. According to police, as the officers pulled behind the stopped vehicle, the male driver, later identified as Ceja-Vazquez, and his passenger, later identified as Reynoso, got out of the vehicle and ran from the traffic stop while appearing to be holding their waistbands.

Following a brief foot chase, the officers caught up Ceja-Vazquez near Collins Street and Cass Street and placed him into custody. Reynoso was apprehended by officers in the 100 block of Casseday Avenue.
Following a search of the path taken by both suspects, officers recovered a loaded handgun. It was determined that Ceja-Vazquez was responsible for the handgun, English said.

As for Ceja-Vazquez, he was cited for no valid registration, no registration on front of vehicle, loud muffler noise, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to signal and improper lighting.
