45 Beagles Kept Inside This Joliet House: WJOL

Neighbors complained of multiple dogs barking and strong animal odors coming from the property, according to Joliet's news radio station.

JOLIET, IL — Scott Slocum and Joliet's news radio station, AM-1340 WJOL, broke a story on Thursday morning revealing that 45 beagles were recently discovered at a Joliet home in the 1400 block of Burry Street.

According to WJOL, the Joliet Township Animal Control and the Joliet Police Department were sent to the house in the 1400 block after neighbors complained of multiple dogs barking and strong animal odors coming from the property.

The 45 beagles were discovered in several cages and running loose in the home, WJOL reported.

However, the homeowner is not facing any criminal charges because they were cooperative and the beagles did not appear to be the victims of animal cruelty, the radio station noted.

According to WJOL's report, the dogs have also found placement thanks to the work of several area dog shelters that were contacted to help out.
