Almost Shot: Joliet Gunman's Bullets Miss Young Man, Woman
Officers recovered multiple spent shell casings during a canvass of the area.

JOLIET — Several days a week during the summer, people armed with loaded handguns are running rampant across Joliet and most all of their shootings are targeted, meaning they are not shooting at random people. On Tuesday afternoon, Joliet police were alerted to another targeted shooting, this time, over on the east side near Highland Park and Route 6.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English:
At 3:19 p.m., the officers responded to the 2100 block of Belmont Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Officers learned that a male suspect fired multiple rounds at a vehicle occupied by a 20-year-old man who was driving and his 20-year-old female passenger, while driving in the area of Longwood Drive and Tamarack Drive.
One round struck the rear of the victim’s vehicle.

It is believed the shooter fled the area in a vehicle. No injuries were reported. Officers recovered multiple spent shell casings during a canvass of the area.
