Joliet Student Awarded Edison International Scholarship

Samantha Moreno, former Joliet Junior College student and Joliet Township High School graduate, has received a $2,500 scholarship from Edison International.

EI is the parent company of independent power producer Midwest Generation, which operates the Joliet Generating Station.
 
The daughter of Daniel and Debra Moreno, Moreno's father works as a mechanic at the Joliet Generating Station.
 
Moreno is among eight recipients in Illinois of Edison International’s Howard P. Allen scholarships, awarded to high school graduates planning on attending a four-year university.

The scholarships recognize and reward children of employees and retirees of Edison International companies.
 
This fall, Moreno is attending the University of Illinois at Chicago, majoring in Business Marketing.

Moreno, who enjoys playing guitar, was an honor roll student at Joliet Junior College and Joliet Township High School.
