JOLIET — The Joliet police force took 24-year-old Aldo Reyes into custody over the weekend after police say he was visiting an east-side neighborhood, raising his voice, pulling out his gun and threatening to harm another person related to a dispute over money.

Joliet police investigated the crime and later found Reyes back at his place in the 1100 block of North Raynor Avenue where he was taken away in handcuffs. Joliet police later let him go on a notice to appear in court on charges of disorderly conduct, battery and aggravated assault.

Saturday's incident happened around 5:20 p.m., in the 300 block of Youngs Avenue, an area of Joliet's east side that has had its share of shootings in recent months.

It is believed that during the argument, Reyes brandished a handgun and pushed the other man.

A female neighbor attempted to intervene in the argument and Reyes began to argue with her as well. The woman's husband approached Reyes and Reyes tried to punch him, but missed. Reyes then held the handgun, pointing it in the air, before getting into his car and driving off, Joliet police advised.

A short time later, the officers found Reyes back at his residence in the 1100 block of North Raynor Avenue and placed him into custody without incident.

However, the handgun was not located, English noted.
