Briber Bought His Way Into County Jail: Cops

He tried to bribe an officer who pulled him over for speeding, police said.

SHOREWOOD, IL — A Joliet man allegedly tried to bribe a Shorewood police officer who had pulled him over for speeding, but instead of just getting a ticket, he landed in the county jail.

Haitham Zegar, 35, was booked on a charge of bribery. He spent two day in the Will County jail before he was released on $30,000 bond.

Zegar was pulled over for speeding Saturday, then tried to pay the cop so he would let him off with a warning instead of giving him a ticket, said Police Chief Aaron Klima.
