Bullet Almost Kills Joliet Baby Inside Bedroom: Police

Joliet police conducted a canvass of the area as part of their investigation into this shooting.

JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department is out trying to solve Wednesday night's shooting on the east side that could have ended the life of an infant as well as several teenagers all gathered within the same bedroom. The gunman opened fire upon several people at the house in the 100 block of Akin Avenue.

The shooting happened around 10:10 p.m.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that the officers discovered that the residence was struck by gunfire.

"The gunfire originated from outside the residence and one round had struck the home: entering a bedroom and striking a dresser," English noted.

There were several juveniles as young as 1 and as old as 17 in the bedroom at the time of the shooting, however, no one was injured.
