Christmas Shoe Thief Jailed on Armed Robbery Charges: Cops

The ex-convict stole shoes and a cell phones at gunpoint on Christmas, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A ex-convict was jailed for allegedly stealing shoes and cell phones from three men on Christmas.

Detrion Anderson, 22, was arrested on Reichman Street Wednesday night. He was charged with four counts of armed robbery, one count of aggravated robbery, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Anderson was also wanted on a domestic battery charge for allegedly hitting a woman in the head last month.

Anderson was armed with a gun when he stole the shoes from three men and took two of their cell phones, according to a criminal complaint on file in Will County court.

Anderson’s bond for the robbery case was set at $1 million. His bond for the domestic battery charge was set at $75,000.

Anderson remains in custody at the Will County jail.

Anderson was released from prison less than four months before the alleged armed robbery. He had been locked up for possessing a stolen firearm.

Department of Corrections records list Anderson as a parole absconder.
