City Shares Yard Waste Pick-Up Guidelines, Calendar

The last week for regularly scheduled yard waste pickup will be Dec. 7-11.

As the seasons begin to change, the City of Joliet would like to remind its residents about the last week for yard waste pickup and yard waste collection guidelines.

The last week for regularly scheduled yard waste pickup will be December 7-11, 2020. Yard waste should be placed at the curb or alley at the same time as garbage and recycling. Yard waste consists of grass, shrubbery cuttings, leaves, tree limbs (less than three inches in diameter) and other materials accumulated as the result of lawn care.

Yard waste should be prepared in the following manner for collection:
• Brush, tree limbs, and branches must be bound in bundles not exceeding 4 feet and weighing no more than 50 pounds.
• No single piece within each bundle should exceed three inches in diameter.
• Unbundled brush will not be collected.
• Old landscaping mulch is considered garbage, not yard waste, and should be placed with garbage for disposal, not with yard waste.

Yard waste must be placed in either 30-gallon kraft paper bags or a rigid container not larger than 32-gallons. Non-standard containers such as drums, baskets, etc. will not be collected. Your designated containers must be clearly marked so it is visible from the street. Yard waste can only be placed in a cart or container designated for yard waste.

• City Hall (150 W. Jefferson Street)
• Joliet Jewel Foods Stores (1401 W. Jefferson St., 1537 N. Larkin Avenue & 2480 Il. Rt. 59)
