Councilwoman Responds to Lightless Collins Street, Says Fix Coming in Week

A motor vehicle accident damaged electrical equipment and knocked out the streetlights, she said.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet City Councilwoman Brooke Hernandez Brewer said she recently learned of the lack of lighting on Collins Street and that it will be remedied soon.

The streetlights on Collins only recently went dark, Hernandez Brewer said, and it was because of a motor vehicle accident that took out a fire hydrant, a utility pole and an electrical street cabinet.

It will take some time to get a replacement cabinet, she said.

“The cabinet won’t be in till next week,” Hernandez Brewer said. “The second that it comes in, we’ll be making all the repairs.”

City council candidate Alex Rodriguez recently raised the streetlight issue in an email to Patch.
