Cuddy's Shootings: 2 Attempted Murder Charges From Joliet Police

JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department announced on Tuesday night it has solved the late August shootings of a pair of teenagers in the parking lot of the Cuddy's neighborhood grocery store.
Marcus Gilbert, 19, of Crest Hill was arrested and booked into the Will County Jail on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery and counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

During the investigation of a shooting outside the Western Food Mart at 308 Western Avenue on August 28, at 9:11 p.m., Joliet Police Detectives identified Gilbert as a suspect. Officers located two shooting victims nearby in the 300 block of Bluff Street. It was discovered that a 17-year-old boy had a single gunshot wound to the right calf and a 15-year-old boy had a single gunshot wound to the buttocks.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Gilbert for the above listed criminal charges on September 3. Gilbert was taken into custody by members of the US Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force on Tuesday morning, in the 300 block of Woodcreek Drive in Bolingbrook.

At the time of Tuesday's arrest, Gilbert was on pretrial release for a gun charge in April of 2024. The Joliet Police Department said it wishes to thank the US Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force for their assistance in this case.
