D'Arcy Motors Shooting Solved As Gary, Ind. Gunman Confesses: Police
Following an investigation conducted by Joliet police, Terrance Petty and a 15-year-old boy were identified as suspects in this shooting.

JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department announced that last week's daytime shooting on Essington Road, causing several thousand dollars in damage to Joliet Mayor Terry D'Arcy's business, D'Arcy Motors has been solved with the arrests of a 15-year-old Plainfield student as well as Gary, Indiana gunman, Terrance Petty.
Petty now finds himself in the Will County Jail where he's facing two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to property. The 15-year-old also faces identical charges.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 5:09 p.m. Aug. 17, officers responded to the Louis Joliet Mall after mall security reported a male in possession of a handgun in his pocket while inside the mall.

Officers found the man and identified him as Petty. Petty was found to be in possession of the handgun, and he was placed into custody without incident, police said. Petty was taken to the Joliet Police Department for processing, and he was also questioned in reference to the shooting that damaged vehicles at D’Arcy Hyundai.
According to English, Petty admitted his involvement in the shooting and the Will County State’s Attorney Office approved charges against him. The 15-year-old boy was taken into custody without incident by detectives after being located at the Plainfield Academy, 23930 Lockport St. on Monday morning.

The teen was taken to the Joliet Police Department for questioning and subsequently transferred to the River Valley Justice Center.
Plainfield School District 202 spokeswoman Linda Taylor notified Joliet Patch on Monday night that the 15-year-old was a District 202 student, but not at the Plainfield Academy.
