Dead Bodies In Joliet's Canal: Public Meeting Set For Wednesday Night
Several memorials are dedicated to people who have lost their lives in recent years due to drownings in the Des Plaines River near Joliet.

JOLIET — The city of Joliet issued a press release reminder so everyone knows that they can attend Wednesday evening's meeting to discuss the Joliet Police Department's investigation surrounding the recovery of several bodies floating in the Des Plaines River canal during the past several years.
According to the city's announcement, Wednesday's meeting will take from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park, 201 W. Jefferson St. On hand will be Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy, Police Chief Bill Evans and Fire Chief Jeff Carey.
"The Public Safety Open Forum is being held to discuss what the city is doing to address crime, communicate with residents about some highly publicized events that have taken place the past few months and what can be done to keep residents informed of new developments and initiatives in both the police and fire departments," the city of Joliet's announcement noted.

On April 19, the Joliet Fire Department recovered the body of missing 37-year-old resident Robert Long.
In March, the lifeless body of Deshawn J. Green, a 37-year-old Joliet man, washed up at the Brandon Road Lock and Dam in Joliet Township.
