JOLIET — The U.S. Attorney's Office in Chicago issued a press release on Friday announcing that ex-Joliet police officer Bill Busse has been indicted on federal drug trafficking charges for allegedly distributing cocaine and attempting to distribute fentanyl in Lockport, the city of Chicago and Orland Park.

The indictment indicates that Busse, a Homer Glen resident, committed the drug-dealing crimes during 2021.

Back in February 2020, Joliet Patch published a story indicating that then-Police Chief Al Roechner was recommending Busse's firing from the Joliet Police Department after two different arrests by nearby police agencies on charges of domestic violence against Busse's ex-wife.
