Fatal Fall: Electrician Killed in 40-Foot Plunge

CREST HILL, IL — An electrician working at a Crest Hill packing plant fell 40 feet from a refrigeration unit to his death, officials said.

Brian Cummings, 60, fell off the refrigeration unit Friday afternoon and was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where he was pronounced deceased in the emergency room.

Cummings, a Des Plaines resident, was working as a subcontractor at Rich Foods on Division Street, police said.

An autopsy performed Saturday showed Cummings died of injuries suffered in the fall, according to Will County Coroner Patrick O'Neil's office.
