Former NHL Player Suing Youth Hockey Club
The retired forward for the Penguins and Maple Leafs was fired without cause, the lawsuit said.

JOLIET, IL — A retired NHL forward is suing an area youth hockey club, claiming he was fired without cause and that he did not receive his agreed compensation.
Rocky Saganiuk, 59, filed suit against the Huskies Hockey Club.
Saganiuk was hired in January 2005 to manage the Little Huskies learn to skate program, and operate additional programs, a tournament, camps and clinics, among other duties, the lawsuit said.

Saganiuk’s starting salary was $85,000 and was to increase by $5,000 over the next five years, the suit said.
But on May 26, 2009, Saganiuk was fired “without cause,” the lawsuit said.

Saganiuk’s contract called for him to be paid half of what remained on it through August 2010, according to the lawsuit, but he did not receive the money.
A May 21, 2009, TribLocal story references Saganiuk’s work with the Huskies Hockey Club and said the organization was based in Romeoville.
Court records list a Plainfield address for Saganiuk.
A native of the Canadian province of Alberta, Saganiuk played for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1978 to 1983, and the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 1983-1984 season.
Saganiuk originally filed a lawsuit against the Huskies Hockey Club in February 2013 but dismissed the case in December 2015. He refiled this week.
