Fugitive Face-Spitter Captured

The Vernon Hills man was on probation for spitting in a cop's face.

JOLIET, IL — A wanted man on probation for spitting in a cop’s face was captured and jailed.

Varnado Davis, 49, had a warrant out for his arrest. Prosecutors had filed a petition to revoke his probation.

Davis, a Vernon Hills resident, had pleaded guilty in April to a felony charge of aggravated battery. He was sentenced to two years probation. He had been charged with aggravated battery a month and a half before that for spitting in a Joliet police officer’s face.

Davis was booked into the Will County jail Monday morning. He had been arrested by an unidentified police department from another state, according to jail records.

Davis’ bond was set at $50,000.
