Get to Know Joliet Public Library

We would like to welcome and Joliet Public Library, downtown branch to the Patch community!

Today, Patch features Maggie Sillar, Marketing/Outreach Coordinator at the Joliet Public Library.

What does the library offer? Your local library has more to offer than just books on paper. In addition to books on paper, the library offers e-books, cds, dvds, programs for every age, from book clubs to video game nights that run every month and computer labs for use for free to library card holders.

When was the Library founded: 1903

What do people not know about the library? “With your library card, you can check out e-books and have access to them 24/7 and then you don’t have to worry about late fees,” Sillar said. 

The library also allows patrons to borrow ereaders. Joliet Public Library has Nooks available and offers training on how to use the devices. Drop-in times are from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and 10 to noon, Wednesdays  at the downtown location. Drop-ins at the Black Road location are from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays.
