Gunned Down Driver Plowed Through Brick Wall in New Year’s Eve Killing

Firefighters responding to a car crashing through a brick wall found the driver had been shot in the chest.

JOLIET, IL — Firefighters responding to a car crashing through a brick wall on Grover Street found the driver had been shot in the chest.

The driver, 21-year-old Dasean Clark, was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center where he died shortly after 9:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve in the emergency room.

Firefighters found Clark behind the wheel of a Hyundai Sonata with a bullet wound to his chest about 9 p.m. The call had gone out as a car accident with no report of shots fired.

Clark had crashed through the brick wall of a garage on Grover.

Police had yet to locate a witness to the shooting late New Year’s morning.
