Harrah’s Casino Ranked No. 1 Thing to Do in Joliet By TripAdvisor

JOLIET, IL — Harrah’s Casino topped TripAdvisor’s list of things to do in Joliet, coming in three spots ahead of crosstown competitor Hollywood Casino.

The struggling Rialto Square Theatre placed second on the list of 23 things to do in town, Chicagoland Speedway came in third, and the Joliet Area Historical Museum finished fifth.

Shuttered Joliet Correctional Center was ranked seventh.

“This place is awesome. Very safe,” one TripAdvisor reviewer wrote of the old prison.

“My family got to walk around the entire place,” the review said. “There are signs warning you not to trespass but you can (enter) almost anywhere. We respected the signs but observed several kids leaving the property who were more than likely vandalizing it.”

It’s actually against the law to sneak into the prison.

Among the attractions beaten out by the defunct prison were the Louis mall and Splash Station.

Harrah’s finished surprisingly high on the list considering less than half of its 580 reviewers gave it an “excellent” rating, and 33 considered it “terrible.”

“The crowd over all was ok but there were a few people that made us feel uncomfortable,” one reviewer said. “One older man in particular. He was walking around a lot and watching everyone playing the slots by us. He was even commenting about how much they were betting and how much money they had in credits."
