CREST HILL — Five months after a Plainfield husband and wife were struck and killed after they tried to walk across Plainfield Road, the Will County State's Attorney Office has filed felony charges against Joliet 36-year-old Mary Beth Mosqueda.

The victims were Laurie K. Cooper, 53, of Plainfield, and Danny L. Cooper, a 68-year-old Plainfield man. Both were found dead at 11:55 p.m. on March 9, in the 2100 block of Plainfield Road, the result of a motor vehicle and pedestrian collision, the coroner announced in March.

Mosqueda was in the Will County Jail on four different occasions in 2023 as a result of unrelated criminal charges, including aggravated battery to a police officer in November. Prosecutors have charged the Joliet woman with two counts of failure to report a crash involving death.
