7-Eleven Clerk Shoots Gun At 3 People In Parking Lot: Joliet Police

JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department arrested an employee of the east-side 7-Eleven store on Friday night in connection with a shooting incident at the business. The 7-Eleven clerk, Christopher Henson, 39, is now in the Will County Jail, where he's charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, aggravated assault and possession of ammunition without a FOID Card.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:53 p.m. July 5, officers responded to the 7-Eleven at 1601 E. Cass St. for a disturbance. A Will County sheriff's deputy was already on the scene when Joliet police arrived.

Henson, a clerk at the 7-Eleven, was standing outside on a break and became involved in an argument with three males in the parking lot sitting in a vehicle, English said.

During the argument, English said, Henson displayed a handgun from his pocket and activated a green laser sight on the gun before firing one round over the heads of the victims.

Henson then retreated back into the store and a Will County deputy arrived. Henson exited the store and was unarmed. Joliet police say they recovered one spent shell casing from the ground in front of the store.

During the K9 search of the 7-Eleven, a loaded handgun believed to be fired by Henson was found underneath a freezer in the stockroom. The K9 also found a backpack that contained additional ammunition that matched the spent shell casing, as well as suspected cannabis that appeared to be packaged for sale and what was believed to be THC wax.

Henson was placed into custody without incident. Officers determined no one was injured by the gunfire and no property was struck.

Arrest reports list Christopher Henson as being a homeless man, while the Will County Jail logs had him as being a Las Vegas, Nevada resident.
