I-55 Reopens: You Can Travel I-55 Both Ways Again
IDOT said it needed to inspect the road to ensure it is safe to reopen and that no repairs are needed.

CHANNAHON — Tens of thousands of motorists traveling across the United States no longer face a major setback to their travels through Will County as Interstate 55 near Channahon.
As of 3:10 a.m. Thursday, all lanes in both directions for I-55 are now open, according to Illinois Department of Transportation.
For the past three days, Interstate 55 was closed in both directions between U.S. 6 and River Road due to downed power lines.

ComEd was working to de-energize, remove and repair the downed power lines. After they are cleared and vehicles that were abandoned during the storm removed, IDOT needed to inspect the road to ensure it is safe to reopen and that no repairs are needed.
