Fatal I-55 Crash Near Wilmington: Crash Victim Identified

WILMINGTON — Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers issued a press release on her Facebook page, reporting the death of Clay E. Russell, a 61-year-old Lincoln man who was pronounced deceased at 5:15 a.m. Sunday.

Russell lost his life during a crash while heading southbound along I-55 at mile marker 238.5 in Wilmington, Summers said.

The Illinois State Police are investigating the crash. An autopsy was performed on Sunday and final cause and manner will be determined following autopsy, police and toxicological reports, the coroner relayed.
