Impaired Joliet Jeep Driver Crashes Into Parked Vehicle: JPD

JOLIET — Late on Saturday night, just after the Blues Brothers concert ended, Joliet police made an unrelated arrest several blocks away involving a drunken driver who crashed into a parked car.

The 36-year-old Melkin Flores was arrested and released on a notice to appear in court on charges of DUI and DUI – BAC Over .08.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 11:24 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Dewey Street for a crash involving a parked vehicle. Officers determined that Flores was driving a Jeep northbound on Dewey Street when he struck an unoccupied Chevrolet Suburban that was parked on the street.

No injuries were reported. While speaking with the officers, Flores displayed behaviors consistent with possible alcohol impairment, according to English.

Flores completed field sobriety tests and was placed into custody without incident. Flores was also cited by Joliet police with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and having no valid driver’s license.
