Jewel Workers Slashed By Liquor-Stealing Ex-Con: Cops
As many as three workers were slashed, police said, and at least one was hospitalized.

SHOREWOOD, IL — A liquor-stealing ex-convict slashed as many as three Jewel workers and sent at least one to the hospital, police said.
David Louis Knight, 46, and his 30-year-old lady friend, Stephany Ingram allegedly attempted to shoplift liquor from the Shorewood Jewel supermarket Thursday night. Employees of the store recognized Knight, police said, as he had been stealing from there for weeks.
Security officers tried to stop Knight and Ingram before they could leave, police said, and a brawl broke out between security and the couple, with additional store employees joining the fray.

During the scuffle, Knight brandished a “very large knife” and slashed at least two and possible three of the workers, police said. At least one was reportedly taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment.
Knight and Ingram were arrested and transported to the Will County jail.

Ingram had lied to the cops about her name, police said, but just as the Jewel workers recognized Knight from his repeated stealing, jail staff remembered Ingram from her frequent visits. Jail records show she has been processed at the county jail 13 times over the years.
Ingram was hit with additional charges of obstructing justice and obstructing identification. She and Knight remain in custody.
