Joliet City Center Partnership Offers Interactive Fun At Kidz Fest

The 18th annual event offers 40 vendors and a Lewis University mini campus and also features face painting, magic shows, and a petting farm.

JOLIET, IL — Kids from around Joliet will have the opportunity to enjoy a free downtown event this weekend that not only provides an array of fun activities but also gives them the chance to learn something new as well.

The Joliet City Center Partnership will host the 18th annual Kidz Fest, which will be held downtown and presented by Lewis University. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and will feature pony rides, a petting farm, face painting, dance performances, and magic shows.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the day.

Lewis University will set up a mini-campus and will also have an airplane on site as part of their display. Any student who visits and completes activities at four booths will receive a pair of pilot wings. The University of St. Francis is sponsoring the attractions, which includes 40 vendors that will be providing interactive activities for kids.

Students 12 years of age and younger who live in Joliet and attend school within the city limits will also have the chance to win a ride to school on a fire truck. Parents may visit the Joliet City Center Partnership information booth in front of the Rialto Square Theater to fill out an entry form for the fire truck ride.

“Families are the foundation of our community,” Priscilla Cordero, the executive director of City Center Partnership said in a news release. “We want to provide interactive and fun activities for children while also promoting all that downtown has to offer.”

Kidz Fest is one of many downtown events that is produced by Joliet City Center Partnership to showcase and promote the downtown area and businesses within the downtown district. More information about the downtown area may be found on the Partnership’s website.
