JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department announced the arrest of 39-year-old Perron Hunter in connection with a cocaine dealing arrest as well as for having a loaded gun with him, according to the arrest reports.

Perron Hunter, of the 700 block of Fourth Avenu, is now staying in the Will County Jail facing charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of controlled substance, possession of ammunition without FOID and two outstanding Will County arrest warrants.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said at 11:57 p.m. Wednesday, officers pulled over a Ford Focus in the 400 block of Herkimer Street for disobeying a stop sign. Officers identified the driver as 30-year-old resident Delgado Delfino, but his passenger initially refused to give police his name.

The passenger, identified as Hunter, got out of the vehicle and while speaking to Joliet police officers, he indicated he had a handgun and cocaine, English said. Officers recovered a loaded handgun from a holster on Hunter’s hip, as well as suspected cocaine that appeared to be packaged for sale from his pants pocket, according to police.

Officers determined that Hunter held two active Will County warrants for failing to appear in court on previous traffic charges. Hunter was also cited for failure to wear a seatbelt as a passenger. Delgado was cited for disobeying a stop sign and released at the scene.
