Joliet Crash Takes Out Fence, Unlicensed Motorist Nearly Ends Up In Drainage Ditch: English

The Oswego resident was uninjured in the crash, Joliet police said.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that 29-year-old Oswego resident Douglas Contreras-Perez was arrested and released on a notice to appear related to charges of aggravated DUI, DUI and DUI – BAC over 0.08. Police say Contreras left the roadway and crashed into a homeowner's fence and fire pit during the middle of the night.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 2:08 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the 3100 block of Oceanside Court for a single vehicle crash. A Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Contreras-Perez was northbound into the cul-de-sac in the 3100 block of Oceanside Court, police said.

According to officials, the Chevrolet left the roadway and went into the yard, striking a fence and a fire pit before coming to rest near a drainage ditch. Contreras-Perez was uninjured in the crash.

English said Contreras-Perez indicated to the officers he had consumed alcohol prior to driving, and he displayed behaviors leading the officers to believe he may be impaired by alcohol.

The Oswego man performed field sobriety tests and was placed into custody without incident. Contreras-Perez was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating an uninsured vehicle and having no valid driver’s license.
