Joliet Fire Department Mourns Loss Of Captain

JOLIET — The Joliet Fire Department's Local 44 announced on Saturday night that a member of the department, Captain Kevin Hargis, has died. The Joliet Junior College fire science department informed its Facebook followers that Hargis died inside his home unexpectedly over the weekend.

"It is with a heavy heart that we regretfully announce the unexpected passing of Captain Kevin Hargis," Local 44 announced. Captain Hargis was with the Joliet Fire Department for 22 years, and he had been a hazardous materials team leader, safety committee member and CPR instructor.

"The Joliet Fire Department will deeply miss Captain Hargis, his leadership, his knowledge and his passion for helping others," Local 44 wanted everyone to know. "For the Hargis family and those closest to him, you all will remain in our thoughts throughout this difficult time."
