Joliet Man Caught with Stolen Pistol: Cops

A Joliet man got caught with a stolen pistol during an early Wednesday traffic stop on the east side.

Anthony McGee, 20, was charged with the possession of a stolen firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of cannabis.

An officer pulled over a car near the corner of Jackson and Franklin streets shortly after 1 a.m. The officer reportedly smelled marijuana and had the three occupants get out of the car, police said. He searched the car and reportedly found a Ruger pistol in the driver’s side door pocket.

The pistol turned out to have been stolen from Allen County, IN, police said.

McGee was taken to the Will County jail.
