Joliet Man Gets Taser During Knife Arrest, Brother Goes To St. Joe's
Joliet police say the 38-year-old man who had fired a handgun during the incident held a valid concealed carry license.

JOLIET — Labor Day may have been a national holiday, but the Joliet Police Department remained on duty and officers arrested 37-year-old Isaac Ramones with the help of a Taser in connection with a knife and gun incident on the city's west side.
Ramones was arrested and given his Notice to Appear in court on charges of obstructing a peace officer.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 12:29 a.m. early on Labor Day, officers responded to the area of Hunter Avenue and Darcy Avenue for a disturbance.

At the scene, an officer encountered Ramones holding a knife, English said. The officer gave commands for Ramones to drop his knife and get on the ground. Ramones dropped the knife, but then began to walk away, ignoring the officer’s commands to stop, according to police.
Police said Ramones then approached a man standing in the 600 block of Darcy Avenue and punched him. At that point, a Joliet officer deployed a taser and Ramones was placed into custody without further incident.

That's only part of the story.
According to English, during the investigation, officers found an injured 35-year-old man on the ground in the 600 block of Darcy Avenue. Officers provided medical assistance until arrival of Joliet Fire Department paramedics. It was determined the injured man was Ramones' brother. He was taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center in stable condition.
According to English, "it is alleged that an intoxicated Ramones and his brother had approached a residence in the 600 block of Darcy Avenue and started an argument with the 38-year-old resident who stood out in front of his home."
During the argument, police said the 35-year-old man physically assaulted the 38-year-old man, at which time the 38-year-old man produced a handgun and fired a round at the 35-year-old to stop the attack. The 35-year- old man was shot in the finger and suffered a head injury from the fight, English said.
Officers determined the 38-year-old man who had fired the handgun held a valid concealed carry license. This case remains under active investigation, English pointed out.
