Joliet Mayor to Meet With Community Over Concerns With Trump's Exec Orders & Immigration

The meeting will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

JOLIET, IL — Mayor Bob O’Dekirk will meet with Joliet residents to address concerns about immigration and other issues following President Donald Trump's recently signed executive orders.

"O’Dekirk and the members of the city council encourage anyone interested in these issues to attend," a statement released by the city said. "Police Chief Brian Benton and other Joliet police officers will also be in attendance."

The meeting was scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 15 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 205 E. Jackson St.

"I have received many inquiries regarding the City and the Joliet Police Department’s obligations to enforce new presidential executive orders," O'Dekirk said in the statement. "We think it would be best if myself, the city council, and the Joliet Police Department meet directly with members of our community to answer any questions."
