Joliet Writers' Group Hosting National Novel Writing Event

JOLIET, IL — A group of Joliet writers will hold an event to help the public participate in National Novel Writing Month. WriteOn Joliet will host an event next month to help neighbors come up with, and produce, their own novels.

Novembers is known as "NaNoWriMo," which stands for National Novel Writing Month. The event seeks to help spur amateur writers to finishing their works, as participants try to write a 50,000-word manuscript in a month's time.

In anticipation for the event, the group of published writers that make up WriteOn Joliet will hold a public event to help residents come up with novel ideas, craft their novels, get started writing and finish the project.

WriteOn Joliet will host the event from 6-8:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the Joliet Public Library, 150 N. Ottawa St. The event is free to the public and open to everyone. Writers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend.

“Several of our members have written and published books and are very happy to share what they have learned with anyone who is looking to start, or continue their own writing,” WriteOn Joliet co-founder Denise Baran-Unland, said.
