Joliet Car Burglar Captured During Overnight Crime Spree: JPD

JOLIET — During the early morning hours last week, Joliet police say 34-year-old Joliet homeless resident Steven Fraime was breaking into vehicles on the city's West Side to steal identification, money, jewelry and credit cards.

Joliet police say Fraime was arrested and later released after getting his notice to appear at Will County's Courthouse to answer to his charges of motor vehicle burglary.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 4:16 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the 800 block of Krings Lane for a burglary to a motor vehicle in progress. While officers were responding, they learned that one of Joliet's west side homeowners spotted someone rummaging through their Kia vehicle.

Officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect and located a man matching this description of the suspect at Black Road and Woodlawn Avenue, English said.

According to police, Fraime was found to be in possession of credit cards, an identification card, jewelry, cash and a checkbook that were determined to be taken from the vehicle on Krings Lane.

Fraime was placed into custody without incident.

Although Fraime was not taken to the Will County Jail for this week's felony arrest, he has been incarcerated four separate times since October 2022.

Fraime was in the jail for three days in April following a Joliet police arrest from charges of aggravated DUI. At that time, Fraime lived in Joliet's 3000 block of West Gloria Lane.
