Joliet's Stabbing Solved, Police Reveal Arrest: 'Exemplary Teamwork Demonstrated By Our Detectives'
This week, the Joliet police officers responded to a stabbing of a 45-year-old man. It happened outside near South Joliet Street.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that this week's stabbing of a 45-year-old man on the city's southeast side has been solved with the arrest of 32-year-old Jesus Simms.
“The swift identification, location, and arrest of Jesus Simms reflects the exemplary teamwork
demonstrated by our detectives, tactical officers, patrol officers, narcotics officers, evidence
technicians, and K9 officers, whose coordinated efforts brought a dangerous offender into
custody without further harm to the public," Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans announced in Friday's press release.
Simms is charged with attempted murder, armed violence, armed robbery, three counts of aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a weapon by felon.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, the 45-year-old victim suffered multiple stab wounds near South Ottawa Street and McDonough Street during the early evening hours of November 12.
Then, on Wednesday, Simms, their prime suspect, was captured.

Shortly before 5 p.m., Joliet Police tactical officers spotted Simms in the 200 block of Sheridan Street. Simms ran from the officers when they attempted to stop and speak to him, English said.
Believing that Simms ran into a house in the 500 block of South Joliet Street, detectives, tactical officers and patrol officers established a perimeter. Officers were granted consent to search the home by the homeowner. At the onset of a K9 assisted search, Simms exited the residence, and he was placed into custody without further incident, English noted.
Simms was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department after he requested medical assistance due to narcotics intoxication. Simms was released from the hospital hours later and he was processed at the Joliet Police Department and then transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
