More Gunfire In Joliet: Church Struck, Victim Taken To Silver Cross
One Joliet woman was lying in her bed as the gunman's bullets whizzed past her head, hitting her headboard.

JOLIET — Every day for the past week in Joliet, there has been a shooting — whether the gunfire left a victim injured or the bullets struck a building or vehicle.
The latest shooting that put someone in the hospital took place on Saturday night in an east side neighborhood. Also, one woman was lying in her bed as bullets whizzed past her head, hitting her headboard.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 1000 block of Woodruff Road for gunshots being fired. Officers located several spent shell casings in the street and two homes and an unoccupied Honda HRV had been struck by gunfire.

One of the homes had been struck once and the other appeared to have been struck multiple times. Both homes were occupied at the time of the shooting. In the home that was struck multiple times, a round struck a headboard of a bed while a woman was in bed.
There were no reported injuries at the scene.

While officers were on the scene of the shooting, a 27-year-old man arrived at the Silver Cross Hospital by private vehicle. He suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder and a bullet graze wound to the head, English said.
The victim reported he was shot while walking in the 1000 block of Woodruff Road. His injuries were non-life threatening, and he was treated and released from the hospital.
On Sunday morning, Joliet police were called back to the shooting scene after it was discovered that the Newness of Life in Christ Church located at 1014 Woodruff Road appeared to have been struck by gunfire during the previous evening’s shooting.
