JOLIET — Back in January 2021, the city of Joliet made history by welcoming the first Chick-fil-A restaurant into the community. The fast-food establishment was built upon the ruins of the former Lone Star Steakhouse on Route 30/Plainfield Road.

On Tuesday night, the Joliet City Council was unanimous in its decision, voting 9-0 to approve the drive-thru permit request so that Chick-fil-A can bring the citizens of Joliet even more delicious tasting chicken sandwiches, starting next year.

Joliet's second Chick-fil-A restaurant will be built in the 200 block of South Larkin Avenue, on the grounds of the recently shuttered Steak-N-Shake restaurant.

The Steak-N-Shake building will be torn down in the coming weeks and construction crews will converge upon the empty lot to bring the residents of Joliet a brand-new Chick-fil-A, one with a double-drive thru to expediate their orders.
