Oasis split in 2009 after years of infighting, with Noel Gallagher leaving the band before a performance in Paris, according to AP.

JOLIET — For once, this week's biggest music news does not involve Taylor Swift. Nope. The biggest story making international headlines concerns brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher. The British pop band known as Oasis is getting back together after 15 years of separation.
The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that the guitar band will play 14 dates in Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland next July and August. “This is it. This is happening,” the band said.
The reunion of the Gallagher brothers opens up the possibility that Joliet's Park District can work its magic and bring Oasis to perform at Memorial Stadium for next June's Taste of Joliet.

Before you smirk and scoff, "Aw, that will never happen in Joliet," there's something you need to remember. This is Joliet, the city that has the motto "City of Champions."
The city that catapulted Joliet Catholic High School graduate Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger to become a national celebrity in one of the greatest sports underdog movies of all-time, "Rudy." The city of Joliet that just landed a rocking blues concert behind the limestone walls of the Old Joliet Prison from the world-famous Blues Brothers: Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi on August 17.
Now is the time to post your reaction to the Oasis concert idea on the Joliet Patch Facebook page.
After all, you never know whether Liam or Noel or both Gallagher brothers will read this story and alert their tour manager that a concert stop in Joliet next June is a must.
Can't you just envision Liam and Noel playing 18 holes before their concert at Inwood Golf Course, and enjoying Cemeno's Pizza a mere hours before their sold-out Joliet performance?
An Oasis performance at Taste of Joliet would bring an incredible aura of excitement to the brothers Gallagher for their long-awaited, highly anticipated Oasis reunion world tour. Memorial Stadium would be electrified as the brothers belt out "Champagne Supernova."
