Collins Street from Cleveland to Williamson will remain closed for duration of the incident.

JOLIET — The Joliet Fire Department announced that an overnight fire has destroyed the old administration building for the former US Steel plant on Collins Street.
Battalion chief Fred Offermann said at 3:11 a.m. on Saturday, the Joliet Fire Department responded to 927 Collins Street for a building on fire.
The first units arrived within 3 minutes of the call and found heavy fire coming from all floors and roof area of the large, vacant structure that once was the Main Office Building at the former Joliet Steel Mill site. Firefighters set up several master steams to deliver high-volume water into the building from the exterior. As of 5:30 a.m., the bulk of fire, was under control, but due to the building being too unstable and unsafe to enter, crews will remain outside to complete final extinguishment, which will take several hours.
