Over 20 Gunshots Fired On Broadway: Here's What Joliet Police Know

JOLIET — More than 20 gunshots were fired in broad daylight on Monday morning during a shootout involving three people, and Joliet police are now trying to locate the gunmen responsible for the near west side violence.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 9:36 a.m., the officers responded to the 300 block of North Broadway Street for a report of shots fired.

Officers found numerous spent shell casings in the roadway.

Police believed that two male suspects standing near a vehicle in front of 366 N. Broadway St. traded gunfire with a male suspect that was standing near North Broadway Street and Spring Street.

According to English, the suspects ran from the area following the shooting. Officers were unable to locate any shooting victims, but two vehicles were struck by gunfire.

Officers found over 20 spent shell casings while conducting an extensive canvas of the area.

According to English, "This is an active investigation in its early stages as Joliet Police Detectives work to identify the suspects involved in this shooting. Anyone with video footage or information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Joliet Police Department Investigation Division at 815- 724-3020.
