JOLIET — For the second year in a row, Joliet police have put 34-year-old Domonique Loggins in the Will County Jail in connection with a violent crime. Will County prosecutors have charged Loggins, who comes from the 900 block of Lois Place apartments, with aggravated robbery and robbery.

In 2023, Loggins spent more than four months in the Will County Jail from May through September, the jail records reflect, and that particular felony weapons case has yet to go to trial.

According to this week's complaint, Loggins stole an iPhone and backpack from his victim by threatening force while indicating to the victim he was armed with a gun.

According to the prosecutor's petition to deny Loggins pretrial release, on Saturday, Joliet police responded to the area of Jefferson Street and Bluff Street for a robbery. The victim told the officers he was walking from the Harrah's Casino when he was confronted by a person who pointed a gun at him.

The victim told officers that he did not believe the person was going to shoot him. Moments later, three more people joined the gunman and attacked the victim, the charges show. The victim fought back, but his iPhone, backpack and $1,500 cash were stolen.

The victim chased after the robbers toward the 300 block of Bluff Street, and he fought with them again, but did not recover his belongings, prosecutors noted.

Based on the descriptions given to Joliet police, Loggins was found nearby and believed to be one of the criminals in the robbery. Prosecutors say Loggins had the victim's iPhone, and the victim positively identified Loggins in a police lineup. No gun was recovered.

As for Loggins, he was already out of the jail on bond in connection with his 2023 Joliet police felony arrest for unlawful use of a weapon, prosecutors outlined.

"The People pray that this honorable court deny the defendant pretrial release," the prosecution's filing noted.

As of Tuesday, the 34-year-old Loggins remained in Will County's Jail.
