Sexual Intercourse Arrest At Joliet Supermarket On Cass: JPD

JOLIET —Officers at the Joliet Police Department arrested a 59-year-old man at the El Ranchito Supermarket at 561 East Cass St., where he's accused of having sexual intercourse with a woman on the grocery store property.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that Frederick Nelson wound up being taken to the Will County Jail on charges of lewd conduct, criminal trespass, resisting a peace officer and obstructing justice.

Sunday's incident happened during the daylight hours — just before 4 p.m.

According to English, at 3:56 p.m., the officers responded to El Ranchito Supermarket for a man and woman having sex in a grass lot east on the east side of the building.

Nelson appeared intoxicated and became belligerent with the officer, and tried walking away, ignoring the Joliet police commands to halt, according to English. That officer tried to place Nelson into custody, and he resisted the arrest by refusing to be handcuffed.

Nelson was taken to the ground and was placed into custody without further incident. Back at the downtown police station, police said Nelson refused to cooperate with booking procedures. He was then brought to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

Nelson stayed in the jail for 48 hours, and he regained his freedom on Tuesday during supper time.
