Shooting Outside Collins Street Liquor Store Leaves 1 Wounded

The man was shot in the leg.

JOLIET, IL — A man was shot in the leg outside a Collins Street liquor store Tuesday morning.

The man was standing outside the liquor store at the corner of Collins and Ward Avenue shortly before 11 a.m. He was with a friend, police said.

The gunman emerged from a white car and opened fire. It was not clear whether the car pulled up and stopped or if it was parked for some time prior to the shooting. It was also not clear whether anyone else was in the car besides the shooter.

The gunman then got back in the vehicle and made his getaway.

Police are still attempting to obtain and review surveillance video.
