Person Shot At Sam's Food Mart On Joliet's Richards Street

Thursday's shooting happened at supper time and the gunman got away before the Joliet police were able to respond to the crime.

JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department announced that Thursday's evening shooting victim will recover from his wounds after the young man was shot on the property of the Sam's Food Mart.

Joliet police said the 5 p.m. shooting happened at the Sam’s Food Mart at 121 Richards St.

Officers found a 29-year-old man with a gunshot graze wound to the left elbow. It was determined that the victim was struck while standing next to his vehicle. The victim’s 1-year-old girl was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting. She was not injured.

The vehicle was struck multiple times. The victim, despite being grazed by the bullet, refused medical assistance at the scene, Joliet police said.
