Stolen Lottery Tickets At Speedway Gas Station On Jefferson Lead To Employee's Arrest: Police
Joliet police say the officers learned that discrepancies had been discovered by management in recent lottery ticket sales.

JOLIET, IL — A 39-year-old Joliet woman who worked at the Speedway Gas Station at 1621 West Jefferson Street was arrested by Joliet police iin connection with two counts of felony theft. According to Wednesday's arrest report, Shanika Gray is suspected of stealing at least $1,400 in Illinois lottery tickets during her time on the clock at the gas station.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 12:03 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to Speedway gas station in reference to a reported internal theft involving lottery tickets.
Officers learned that discrepancies had been discovered by management in recent lottery ticket sales. Following a review of store surveillance footage, management determined that on two separate occasions, Gray, a store employee, was accused of processing multiple lottery tickets while also assisting customers, English said.

Joliet police suspect that Gray concealed the tickets under the cash register, then scanned them using a mobile device. No corresponding transaction for the tickets was recorded from these observed transactions.
Store management determined the total amount of lottery tickets to be over $1,400. Gray was on scene and was placed into custody without incident.
